⚖️ Did you know there are over 10 laws regulating privacy in Latin America?
🌏 The first country to enact a privacy regulation in Latin America was Chile in 1999 and the latest one was Panama in 2019.
📚 Many of these regulations have been heavily influenced by the European General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR. Such influence can be strongly perceived in the sections regulating data subject rights, as well as in the privacy principles that inspire the laws: lawfulness, fairness, transparency, data minimization, accuracy of data and limitations on purposes of collection, processing, and storage.
